Maria Keller first gained orchestral experience during her school years in Queensland, Australia from 2014-2015, performing with various youth orchestras and participating as a pianist in ensembles. In the Maryborough Eisteddfod, for example, she won prizes as a soloist and in piano quintets.

Back in Germany, she first studied orchestral conducting with Professor Alexander Rumpf at the HfMT Cologne from 2016, before switching to Professor Rüdiger Bohn in 2019, where she continued her bachelor's degree and her master’s degree in orchestral conducting.

Since the beginning of her studies, she has been intensively involved with both music theatre and song accompaniment. Alongside her studies, she works as a conductor and accompanist in various opera houses such as the Cologne Opera, the Rheinsberg Chamber Opera and the Krefeld Mönchengladbach Theatre.

As a pianist, she also performed Beethoven's First Piano Concerto in Düsseldorf with the Bergische Symphoniker in October 2021 and Beethoven's Triple Concerto in the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie in October 2022.

From January 2022 until September 2023, she took over the artistic direction of the Flora Symphony Orchestra Cologne and from the end of 2022 to the beginning of 2023 that of the Junge Kammerphilharmonie Berlin.

Since 2023, she has also been guest conductor for many children’s concerts of the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra and the Bergische Symphoniker.

Furthermore, she took over multiple concerts of the Mitteldeutsche Kammerphilharmonie, including concerts in 2023 and the “New Year’s concerts” in 2025.

In the last two years, Maria Keller was a finalist in the Kritisches Orchester Berlin, has been awarded the first prize in Athens 8th Conducting Masterclass and Competition and also won two special prizes in the Ionel Perlea Conducting competition.

Since September 2025, she is the conducting fellow in Theater Altenburg Gera.
